THAT INCREASED HEAT YOU FEEL ISN’T JUST the rising temperature taking hold. It’s also the anticipation of the scorching hot party season that begins this month and leads us right into summer.

On tap are parties for every ilk as Hotlanta gets geared up to show the world how we earned our nickname. So get out your shorts and flip-flops, belly up to the bar for a refreshing beverage, and hold on tight for the hottest in spring events roaring your way.

Taking its cue from the reemerging vegetation, My Sisters’ Room takes advantage of the growing season to do a little growing of its own. Owner Susan Musselwhite announces that, in the midst of some fantastic upcoming parties and events, the lesbian bar will further expand to incorporate the space next door to its location in East Atlanta Village.

“We just need a little room to spread out, because we’re just kind of packing them in there,” Musselwhite says. “When we built the deck, we took the two spaces that were next to us and had not done anything with the third one, so our plans are to bust through into that third space.”

Plans include new a new pool table area, and just because the venue is undergoing a little home improvement, don’t expect the party front to slow down. In addition to the already-in-progress Raw Talent contest on Thursday nights that culminates in May, MSR also kicks off its sure-to-be hot Resurrection party next week, courtesy Girls Gone Pride.

“It’ll just be a really high energy party with lots of trinkets and party favors,” Musselwhite says. “These girls, they just don’t hold anything back. They have a really good time and they can put on a really good party.”

THE LADIES AREN’T THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN can put on a really good party. Chris Coleman’s C2 Productions proves time and again with its monthly tea dances that the guys can do it up too. The parties kick into high gear with two upcoming dates from a couple of the biggest DJ names, Tony Moran and Manny Lehman.

Moran mans the tables for C2’s Easter Party this weekend, and Lehman takes over for the April party, which also serves as a CD release party for his new disc, ‘Move: Atlantis 2008.’

“I’m very excited,” Coleman says. “It’s really an honor for me to bring two guys like this in back to back.”

Consider Coleman doubly honored, then, because the dynamic duo are slated to return in July, playing back to back parties for C2 during Pride on Fourth of July Weekend.

Lehman’s April date is sure to be a hot ticket, but don’t expect it to be an easy choice about which dance floor to hit that weekend. A stellar lineup of Martin Fry and Brett Long are scheduled at WETbar, Atlanta favorite Joe Gauthreaux comes to the Heretic, and Hector Fonseca lands at the Bodyshop.

WETbar keeps the party going all season with hot DJs like Tracy Young and Kio Kio, and Carioca Productions dances through Memorial Day with DJ Paulo presiding over a morning party.

The fun doesn’t stop there, so check out our calendar of parties to come, and stay tuned for further details as the dates approach.
